Top 3 Things to Do this Summer.

Top 3 Things to Do this Summer

The event season may have ended, but it’s not quite a time to lock the front door and binge on Netflix. Here are urbanevents top three things to do this summer to keep you creatively inspired and even a nod to the World Cup, ours involves cocktails, of course. You’re welcome 😉

Just Opened

That space on the right as you walk into The H Hotel has been through so many iterations that we can’t even remember all of the names! But its new reincarnation is The Lion by Nick & Scott – the ex-Gordon Ramsay chefs behind Table 9, Taste Kitchen, and Folly, all successful home-grown brands, so we have high hopes. It’s a proper pub with delicious pub grub and prices to match, and special deals every day of the week. Pop down soon to take advantage of the World Cup offers. A barrel of G&T, you say?

Our neighbour to the north, Sharjah, might not be as big or as popular as Dubai, but they certainly have some cool stuff going on, particularly when it comes to art installations. (Remember the Yayoi Kusama: Dot Obsessions exhibition a couple of years ago?) Well, now the Sharjah Art Foundation has Random Internationals immersive installation Rain Room, first showcased at the Barbican, London, in 2012. It goes against our instinct to walk into pouring water, but somehow, every move is anticipated. How does that work? Random’s tools include 3D cameras, computers, and water nozzles along with 2500 litres of self-cleaning recycled water that detect visitors’ movement so they stay dry while being surrounded by water. A theatrical experience that will bring you cool relief over the summer. #rainroomsharjah

When art and food collide

According to Dilyara Kamenova, CEO & Founder of Alpha Soul and curator of the World of Dali exhibition currently ongoing at Coya Dubai until the end of August, “Dali loved to mix art with food, and so in collaboration with Coya Dubai, we wanted to recreate this major part of his life and career.” Approximately 60 works spanning Dali’s career, including the famous Surrealist Flower Girl (1971) and Space Elephant 1980), plus lithographs and photographs from private collections around the world, and you can visit for free although we recommend visiting via the Pisco lounge for some artistic inspiration.
